ODS in the Marine Corps Marathon
Operation Dreamseed is proud to announce that we will have a team running in the Marine Corps Marathon this October. This even takes place in Washington, DC with activities beginning on Friday, October 27 and ending with the race on Sunday, October 29. All proceeds from the run will go toward the second school year of Kohak Primary School.
Operation Dreamseed will have a small team of four runners (2 men, 2 women) among the estimated 30,000 runners that will participate in the marathon. Three of these are active duty Army officers and one volunteer civilian who is an experienced marathoner. One of the women, U.S. Army Major Lisa Lourey, has a very special story she'd like to share with you. Lisa and her husband, Matthew, a member of the 82nd Airborne, set a goal prior to deployment to both run in 50 marathons before the age of 50. It was something they wanted to do together for charity and for fun. Sadly, during his second tour of duty in Iraq, Matthew was killed in action when his helicopter was shot down in May 2005. Lisa has vowed to carry on their dual goal with the added challenge of completing her husband's goal of 50 marathons before he would have turned the age of 50. We are honored to have Lisa as a part of our team. Her spirit and energy are an incredible inspiration to all those who meet her.
Our runners need sponsors and they need your help. Please consider donating whatever you can, or even as little as $1 a mile. We are also looking for sponsors for t-shirts and other items that will be sold at the ODS booth that weekend. If you would like to be a sponsor or make a donation please contact us at
