Our Cause

John Locke compared a child's mind to a blank slate in his Second Treatise on Government. What he meant was that as we grow and move though our lives, much of who we are is gathered from the input we receive in our education, relationships, and interaction with the world.

The education of a child is probably one of the most important factors in the forming and molding of that child's mind, personality, and world outlook. A child that receives an education from a single source will have a much more limited view of the world in comparison to a child that receive a much broader education.

Consider Plato's story of the cave. Imagine taking part in bringing to light a whole new world for a generation for children that are disadvantaged. This is the mission of OPERATION DREAMSEED - it is four-fold:

• HOPE - providing hope to the disadvantaged peoples, specifically its youth, that a new beginning, a new horizon is possible. OPERATION DREAMSEED is a part of this effort to provide hope.
• TRUST - OPERATION DREAMSEED has a mission of helping to nurture the trust planted by ongoing reconstruction and rebuilding efforts in under-developed countries.
• BELIEF - With hope and trust, people will begin to believe in a future free of violence and oppression. Imagine a generation of children that have no memories of conflict and war, no haunted dreams of violence.
• REALITY - With belief comes reality. We all know the maxim "Feed a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach him to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime." By contributing to the spread of education, increasing literacy, encouraging learning, building schools, offering education resources and opportunities, participants and contributors in OPERATION DREAMSEED can contribute to a global and enduring freedom.
